Dublin Shell to Sea

The Gardaí went on a holiday at the taxpayer's expense to the beautiful seaside in County Mayo. They were supposedly there as a high security operation to offer protection to Shell while they steal our resourses from under our noses. How can the government justify this kind of over policing while making cuts in our health care and welfare? They can't! But maybe if they would renegotiate the terms of our Gas Giveaway, we could afford lots of things in a time of recession!

In June 07 Green Party TD Eamon Ryan became Minster for Energy & Natural Resources. Before entering Government Eamon Ryan had supported the Shell to Sea campaign and been critical of the Shell project. However since becoming a Minister he has supported Shell and their Corrib Gas Project and forgotten his previous declarations. Video uses lots of still from the protests over the years including some of Ryan attending and ends with him refusing to answer the comments put to him by locals.

Seven Shell to Sea protestors have been refused bail today for minor public order offences. Three men have been sent to Castlereigh Prison, while four women are currently on route to Mountjoy Women's Prison.

These protestors are all charged with minor public order offences. It is a disgrace that they are being sent to prison instead of being given the normal bail conditions. They do not have previous convictions.

A look at the massive security operation currently taking place in Erris and the subservient mainstream media, protecting the interests of corrupt politicians and the corporate takeover of Ireland.

Five kayakers breached the Solitaire's unilaterally declared 500 metre exclusion zone yesterday evening (Thursday) in a daring offshore action. Despite the presence of Navy warships, Garda water units and private security vessels in Erris waters, the determined fishing boat approached the vessel. The kayakers made directly for the Solitaire, dodging Shell and safety boats, and came within 100 metres of the pipelaying ship which immediately left the area, roughly ten miles off the Mayo Coast. This was the culmination of a day of action against the Solitaire.
